He grabbed the necklace
around her neck
and pulled down and away
but the clasp was too strong
so she bent at the waist,
at the strength of it.

It dug into the skin around her neck
the chain of fate,
of burden, and
of power.
She smiled at her feet
and took this moment to
gather herself for his
next actions
his knuckles were white
as his grasp on the pendant

She gathered her will,
her faith,
and her courage
and it manifested.
In the palms of her hands,
glowing violet and pulsing

The pendant burned his hand
and he stumbled back.
The witch stood straight again.
Thankfully he had remembered to cast
his eyes away,
her spell broken and powerless
without the windows
to his soul

foggy fingertips
wrap themselves around
the forbidden fruit
hanging like curtains
in a secret window
turmoil tossing its
head, stretching its
claws. swallow your
pride but don’t choke
on your ego

heavy heart sighs
like the apathetic
graduate, grasping
for a greater meaning
in all the insecurity
magician hands are
necessary. lift this
burden from its
resting place
Awaken it and
banish it
with trickery
and showmenship

turn away your
glassy stare. this
one’s not for
the faint hearted
But if you
no heart at all
then gaze into
temptation’s eyes
until you are
weak at the knees
and gasping for

Don’t dirty the
artifacts of which
you have no history
with. smudging
memories with your
finger prints and
Trail of tears
behind your wicked
disregard. The past
stays behind the
now, but shouldn’t
be forgotten

Make it disappear
fruit and all
Can’t bare the illusion
of bitter sweet nothings
